I write this in September as the days are getting darker and colder and the holiday season feels well and truly over. August is typically a time when we take a proper break, especially those of us with kids on summer holidays. How much did you spend on your last holiday? If you’re anything like me, a SMALL FORTUNE. And that’s before we’ve even stepped foot on the plane. Decent holidays are expensive. They said because of the hot summer we had in the UK this year, travel operators were offering bargain prices. Not my experience. I had to reframe the expense as “an investment in our memory bank”, as it was a very BIG pill to swallow.
Word on the street is that once Brexit is finalised, we’ll start getting charged more for our favourite European trips. A small charge for an entry visa and (albeit unwelcome) return to chargeable data roaming is perhaps no big deal , but have you thought about how the airlines and hotel chains might capitalise on our new found independence? Do you think we can expect prices to rise even more for UK citizens. I do!
